- Ottawa is restricting travel from the UK for 72 hours in an effort to keep a new virus strain of COVID-19 out of Canada. The travel ban went into effect first thing Monday morning. Passengers that arrived from the UK Sunday are subject a to secondary screening and enhanced measures.
Source - Canadian retail sales keep rising despite pandemic plunge. The sales growth was led by motor vehicle and parts dealers. Canadian retail sales for October, stronger than projected, rising by 0.4%. Stats Canada reports that total sales activity for October hit $54.6 billion.

- The Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec is investing $200 million in an american company, Zevia, that produces zero calorie natural drinks. The investment is to allow Zevia to continue its expansion. Zevia is a leader in its sector, with 35,000 distribution points in Canada and the U.S.

- The Federation du Commerce is now requesting that all employees working in an essential business, during the two-week lockdown, be given bonuses. The union is asking for the return of the bonus system that was in place this past spring.

- Stocks making the biggest moves in premarket: Tesla joins S&P 500 index as of today, shares lost 3.6% in premarket. Nike reports quarterly profits of 78 cents per share, 16 cents above estimates. JP Morgan announces $30 million stock buyback.

- Following months of delay, the U.S. congress is set to vote today on a $900 billion stimulus package that would give additional assistance for individuals and businesses affected by the pandemic. The Bill would give direct assistance to most Americans and boost payments to unemployed people.

- Nations impose travel restrictions on the UK if it reported a new strain of the virus. Ireland, Germany, France, and Italy are among those halting flights to and from Britain. The new virus variant is said to be in London and south-east London.

- Oil prices fell today as reports of a new virus strain sees new restrictions as the spread continues through Britain, sparks worry about slower recovery in fuel demand. Brent crude was down $2.23 or 4.3% to $50.03 a barrel, and West Texas Intermediate down $2.10 to $47.00 a barrel.
